Sambalpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a high-level bridge over the Mahanadi, which connects Nelson Mandela Chhak with Chaurapur in Sambalpur district.
The bridge, which has been built at a cost of Rs 117.72 crore, will reduce the distance to district headquarters by 25 km. It will also establish the missing link between Chaurpur, Gosala, Chipilima and Sambalpur.
During this one-day visit to Sambalpur, Naveen dedicated projects worth Rs 555 crore.
He also attended the Biju Yuva Vahini’s Youth Club here in the district and addressed hundreds of youth in the presence of MPs, MLAs and Zilla Parishad presidents.
In the conclave, he announced construction of two more bridges-Malatijora and Balibandha- at a cost of Rs 20 crore and Rs 10 crore, respectively. The road, connecting the district school with Naksapalli and Durgapalli with NH, will be widened to four lanes at a cost of Rs 40 crore and Rs 15 crore, respectively, he added.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated 19 other development projects worth Rs 100 crore and laid foundation stones of 14 development projects worth Rs 338 crore.
Besides, he approved Rs 3 crore for renovation of the Veer Surendra Sai Stadium.
