Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated a plasma bank at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack through video-conference.
He said this therapy is expected to be an effective tool in the fight against the global pandemic COVID.
“Our Doctors in SCB Medical College, Cuttack have made the entire state of Odisha proud by introducing this advanced medical procedure which is a frontier area in the field of medicine. This is all the more relevant now when the vaccine for COVID is only in its trial stage,” the chief minister said.
Stating that Odisha now joins a select club of very few states which have introduced the convalescent plasma therapy, Naveen assured the people of the Government’s commitment to provide the highest standards of medical care and treatment.
“No person in Odisha would be deprived of access to latest medical technology for any reason. This is a solemn commitment of this Government. Introduction of Plasma Therapy is one such step, the chief minister said.
Earlier, he had appealed to those who had got cured of COVID-19 to donate their plasma which will go a long way in helping in the treatment of serious patients.
“I congratulate the four brave donors who have volunteered to donate their invaluable plasma today,” he said.
