Odisha CM Inaugurates Third Plasma Bank At IGH-Rourkela, Two More In Offing

Bhubaneswar/Rourkela: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated Plasma Bank for COVID-19 treatment at IGH Hospital, Rourkela.

Simanchal Gauda, who had recovered from the infection earlier this month, became the first donor of plasma at the collection centre.

While announcing a slew of measures and assistance to fight COVID-19 for Sundargarh district on July 22, the CM had said that a Plasma Bank will be started at IGH-Rourkela, and it will supply plasma to various districts in western Odisha.

This facility is already operational at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

“It is heartening to know that 70 units of plasma have been prepared in 15 days. Eight plasma infused patients have been discharged and 17 more are showing signs of improvement after undergoing the procedure,” the CM said.

Two more banks will be set up at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and VIMSAR at Burla, he said.

“With this, all the regions of the state will have access to plasma therapy,” he added.
