Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 481 development projects worth Rs 1,151 crore across 30 districts in the state.
The projects were launched by the CM through video conference at the state level Local Self-Government Day ceremony held at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of self-governance in providing basic facilities to citizens and highlighted the need for elected public representatives to work above politics to fulfil people’s expectations.
Majhi also underlined the need for decentralisation and empowerment of municipalities to plan and provide services for urban infrastructure.
The Chief Minister also handed over appointment letters to 27 newly appointed administrative officers and announced the preparation of a handbook and toolkit for citizens and service providers to facilitate the timely execution of master plans and building approvals.
Referring to rapid urbanization in Bhubaneswar, the CM acknowledged the challenges in providing basic facilities to residents and assured that the government is committed to developing all urban areas, including Bhubaneswar, into smart cities.
The newly-launched projects are expected to improve the lives of citizens and contribute to the state’s overall development.
