Odisha CM Launches Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, 3.28 Crore To Get Extra Free Rice

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday launched the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, under which every beneficiary of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) will get an additional 5 kilograms

of rice free of cost.

The scheme, approved by the state Cabinet earlier this month, was formally launched on the occasion of the completion of two years of Mohan Majhi government in the state.

With this initiative, each beneficiary will now be entitled to a total of 10 kilograms of rice per month, significantly enhancing food security for economically vulnerable families across the state.

The scheme is expected to benefit around 3.28 crore beneficiaries in the state. Nearly 80 per cent of the state’s population will be covered under the programme and will be able to avail of its benefits.

To implement the scheme, the Odisha government will incur an annual expenditure of approximately Rs 8,813 crore.

The Chief Minister stated that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring food security and providing additional support to millions of people across the state.
