Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated BMC – ICOMC Tower (Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and The Intelligent City Operations Management Centre) at Satya Nagar in Odisha Capital.
The Centre will provide a digital platform for integration of different city services. A video on the ICOMC Tower was also screened on the occasion.
The CM then launched ‘SAFA App’, which was followed by the screening of a video on the mobile application aimed at ensuring hassle-free and real-time collection of waste in the capital city.
Developed by BMC with the help of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), it will provide sanitation services to people under one platform to promote cleanliness in the city. Bhubaneswar denizens will now be able to book BMC’s garbage-lifting vehicles online to dispose of bulk waste safely.
The mobile app will also track vehicles, fitted GPS, involved in garbage collection. Any complaint lodged on the app will be addressed within 24 hours. People can also give their feedback using a QR code.
The app was first launched by Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) in 2019 by then Ganjam Collector Vijay Kulange, who now holds the post of BMC Commissioner.
Kulange had earlier said that the online booking service for bulk waste generators such as hotels, restaurants, apartments and other stakeholders on the digital platform will initially be free, after which BMC will charge a certain amount towards collection, transportation and safe processing of the waste.
Besides, city residents will also be able to use the application to pay holding tax, and book water tanker and cesspool vehicle.
It will be available for download on Google Play Store and the software is also being integrated with Bhubaneswar.me portal and application to help those who don’t want to download multiple applications.d.
