Abu Dhabi/Bhubaneswar: Stepping up efforts to bring global investments to Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a series of meetings with prominent UAE business leaders, investment institutions and members of the Indian business community in Abu Dhabi.
The Chief Minister, who is leading a high-level delegation as part of the state’s investment outreach in the UAE, held wide-ranging discussions on the first day of his official visit to the Gulf nation as part of efforts to woo investors.
The engagements were aimed at showcasing Odisha’s industrial strengths, emerging sectors and investment opportunities while exploring partnerships with some of the UAE’s leading business and investment groups.
Officials said the Odisha delegation held a roundtable interaction with the International Holding Company (IHC), one of the UAE’s prominent business groups, along with its business verticals and group companies. The discussions focused on identifying potential investment opportunities and strengthening industry partnerships with Odisha.
The Chief Minister also met members of the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG) in Abu Dhabi. The interaction sought to deepen India-UAE business ties and highlight Odisha’s potential as an investment destination.
A key engagement during the day’s programme was the meeting with Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, CEO of Borouge. Discussions with the senior industry leader centred on the petrochemicals sector and the possibilities for investment and collaboration in Odisha.
The state delegation also held meetings with leading UAE investment institutions, where Odisha’s industrial ecosystem, emerging sectors and investment opportunities were presented to potential investors.
Earlier, the Chief Minister and Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain were welcomed and felicitated by Indian Ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal and members of the Pravasi Odia community in Abu Dhabi.
Officials said the interaction focused on strengthening Odisha-UAE social, cultural and economic ties, with the Odia community expressing strong support for the state’s investment and employment opportunities.
The Pravasi Odias also welcomed and extended their support to the investment roadshow aimed at attracting industrial investment and creating employment opportunities in Odisha.
The investment outreach also extended to Dubai, where the delegation inaugurated a display of Odisha’s One District One Product (ODOP) products.
The display seeks to provide greater exposure to Odisha’s traditional products, handicrafts and local enterprises in the UAE market. The initiative is also aimed at creating new avenues for local producers and entrepreneurs to access international markets.
Majhi and the Odisha delegation later met the Consul General of India in Dubai. The discussions focused on Odisha-UAE engagement and ways to further strengthen institutional, business and community-level linkages.
The UAE outreach is part of Odisha’s broader efforts to attract investments from global markets and strengthen its position as an investment destination. Through engagements with business leaders, investors and institutions, the state is seeking to build new partnerships across sectors and create opportunities for industrial growth.
The first day of the UAE outreach witnessed Odisha combine its investment pitch with efforts to promote its local products and strengthen institutional and business connections between the state and the UAE.
