Odisha CM Majhi, Speaker Mourns Death Of Senior Congress Leader

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and three-time former MLA from Padampur constituency, Satya Bhusan Sahu, passed away on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 73. 

A prominent figure in Odisha’s political landscape, Sahu represented the Padampur Assembly seat during three separate terms: 1980, 1985, and 2004. Known for his parliamentary skill and legislative acumen, he served in key capacities throughout his tenure in the Assembly, notably as the Government Chief Whip.

Expressing deep sorrow over his demise, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi offered his prayers to Lord Jagannath for the peaceful departure of the departed soul and extended heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family.

In a condolence message, Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy noted that Sahu’s election to the Assembly three times stands as a testament to his immense popularity among people. She highlighted his unparalleled contribution to the overall development of the Padampur region, alongside his remarkable service as the Chief Whip in the State Legislative Assembly.
