Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday ordered a high-level probe into the firecracker explosion at Puri and announced Rs four lakh ex-gratia each for the kin of those killed in the incident.
The Chief Minister visited a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and met people who sustained burn injuries in the firecracker explosion that took place in Puri on Wednesday night. He met the injured patients and enquired about their health.
Naveen wished everyone good health and discussed with senior doctors about the medical arrangements in the hospital.
The Chief Minister ordered a high-level administrative inquiry into the incident. The probe will be conducted by the additional chief secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management department and the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), official sources said.
He also announced Rs four lakh each to the families of those killed in the devastating explosion as financial assistance.
While at least three persons were killed after the explosion, more than 30 devotees have been admitted to different hospitals in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Puri for treatment.
