Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Calls For More ‘Efficient & Smart’ Water Resources Dept

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Friday visited the Water Resources Department at Rajiv Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, to review the state’s hydrological data and departmental operations.

The CM inspected the State Hydrological Data Centre, which monitors real-time water levels in reservoirs and rivers across the state, and understood its operational procedures. He also interacted with departmental officers, engineers, and employees across various sub-divisions, and pushed for greater commitment to achieve the goals set by his government.

Speaking to the media, Majhi said that the government has set a target to irrigate 15 lakh hectares by 2029–30. “Along with this, we are ensuring that water reaches the tail end of the canals. Accordingly, the department will be transformed into a more efficient and smart office,” he added.

Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department Anu Garg, Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department Chandrashekhar Padhi, and other senior departmental officers were present.
