Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Dismisses Former Medical Officer Convicted In Bribe Case


Bhubaneswar: Continuing his strict stance against corruption, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday dismissed Dr. Patitapaban Barik, former Medical Officer of Gurundia Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sundargarh district, from government service.

Barik was convicted on July 26, 2025, by a Special Vigilance Court in Sundargarh and sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment. He was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Bijay Kumar Mohanty in exchange of signing a logbook necessary for preparation of a hire charges bill for his vehicle. The arrest of He was arrested on December 5, 2015.

The Chief Minister has directed all levels of administration to maintain a policy of zero tolerance toward corruption, reiterating that no corrupt official will be spared.
