Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a roadshow from Ghatagaon High School ground to Maa Tarini temple as he embarked on a two-day visit to his home district Keonjhar, the first since assuming charge, on Sunday.
Majhi received a rousing welcome after he landed at Ghatagaon in a special helicopter this morning. People gathered on either side of the road to catch a glimpse of the CM as he waved to the crowd expressing his gratitude. He also received grievance letters from the people and promised to address the issues.
The CM was joined by his wife Priyanka Marndi, who was waiting for him at the temple.
After offering prayers at the shrine, Majhi announced a package of Rs 50 crore for its development. “My government will promote Maa Tarani Peeta at national level and develop the district as a tourist destination. While Rs 50-crore renovation project is underway, the amount, I realised, was not enough after visiting the shrine. Therefore, an additional Rs 50 crore will be provided for the development and beautification work,” he told reporters.
Later in the day, Majhi will visit Keonjhar town, offer puja at Sri Baladevjew Temple and participate in a roadshow. He is also scheduled to attend a felicitation ceremony and address a public meeting.
On Monday, the CM will visit his village Raikala and address a felicitation ceremony-cum-public meeting after a roadshow from Raikala to Jhumpura. He will have lunch at his residence at Raikala and interact with the local people before flying back to Bhubaneswar in the afternoon.
