Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is scheduled to chair an important meeting of the state Cabinet at Lok Seva Bhawan in Odisha capital on Friday afternoon.
According to sources, the Cabinet likely to approve the State Budget 2025-26, which will be presented in the Assembly on February 17. This will be the second consecutive Budget to be presented by the CM, who also holds the Finance portfolio.
Majhi had presented a Rs 2.65 lakh crore budget for 2024-25 on July 25, 2024, with significant emphasis on agriculture, irrigation, and women’s empowerment.
Every year, the size of the Budget increases and it may touch ₹2.75 lakh crore in 2025-26, the sources added.
Earlier addressing a pre-budget consultation meeting attended by former finance ministers, experts and representatives of different associations, the CM had said that the 2025-26 budget would focus on strengthening rural economy by fulfilling the aspirations and needs of the deprived sections.
He stressed that employment generation will be given topmost priority and 40,000 people recruited during 2025-26.
