Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi left for New Delhi on a two-day visit to the national capital ahead of the crucial Vice-Presidential election tomorrow.
As per sources, the Chief Minister is likely to attend a number of crucial meetings of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), besides being present for the voting process the Vice-Presidential poll.
This marks his second visit to the national capital within a week, underlining the significance of the discussions on organisational matters and other issues with the BJP’s central leadership.
During his visit, Majhi is expected to hold discussions with MPs from Odisha and engage in other key political deliberations.
Significantly, BJP’s Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal has also been in New Delhi since yesterday, indicating a series of party-level discussions ahead of the crucial election.
It may be recalled that CM Majhi had recently returned from Delhi on September 5. He met President Droupadi Murmu and several Union Ministers during the last visit.
The simultaneous presence of CM Majhi and Manmohan Samal has sparked anticipation that announcements on the long-awaited cabinet reshuffle and state committee appointments may be imminent.
According to sources, discussions may focus on cabinet expansion, induction of new members into state-run boards and corporations, and a reshaping of the Odisha BJP organisation.
Notably, Samal had also recently returned from Delhi after meeting senior party leaders.
It may be noted that BJD president and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly Naveen Patnaik is also in New Delhi. The regional party is yet to finalise its stance on the Vice-Presidential election.
