Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter to pay tribute to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary on Tuesday.
Naveen highlighted Kalam’s long association with the state and mentioned Wheeler Island which was renamed after him.
Kalam was the 11th President of India. He was born in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu on October 15, 1931.
He spent the majority of his career with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as an aerospace scientist. He was intimately involved in India’s space programs as well as missile development.
