Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi released the financial literacy booklets of RBI in Santali language during the inauguration of ‘Bali Jatra’ in Cuttack.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bhubaneswar had taken the initiative of translating and printing five target specific booklets in Santali language for distribution among the people of Santali speaking community.
The RBI has created the useful volume of literature for school children, farmers, entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups and senior citizens with the aim to create awareness about financial products and services, good financial practices, going digital and consumer protection.
The books aim at deepening financial inclusion in remote parts of Odisha where 8.6 lakh people speak Santali which is recognised as a regional language as per the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Further, the booklets will be distributed in other states like Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Tripura where sizeable Santali speaking population live.
The RBI took the initiative to mark commemoration of 90th year of its operations this year. It also held a series of events including RBI90Quiz, RBI goes to Schools Campaigns, Town Halls/Seminars throughout the year.
Deputy Chief Minister, MPs, MLAs, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of 14 East Asian countries, senior government officials, Regional Director, RBI Dr Sarada Prasan Mohanty and general manager Anita Patnaik were present on the occasion.
