Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday visited Puri and reviewed the progress of heritage project and beautification work around Jagannath Temple besides various works taken up under ABADHA scheme.
Naveen first offered prayer to the deities from Singhadwar and then made ‘Sampurna
Parikrama’ along ‘Meghnad Pacheri’ of the temple.
The chief minister directed that devotees should be able to have hassle-free entry through Singhadwar and adequate arrangements should be made for their comfort when they wait in queue to go inside the temple. He advised to use technology for ensuring safety and security so that arrangements are not very obtrusive.
While reviewing from southern side of the temple, he advised to create tree shaded spaces so that Parikrama is comfortable with special emphasis on universal access.
The heritage corridor should be designed in such a manner that persons with disabilities will be able to go around on their own, he said adding that no utilities like electricity substation or control in master plan should be next to Meghanad Pacheri.
He advised to make adequate arrangements for serving Mahaprasad to large number of people at one time. For elderly devotees, adequate arrangements for electric carts should be made so that they don’t face any problem even if they park their vehicles at a distance.
The chief minister directed to complete the land acquisition process by January 1 next year and start the work on Shree Jagannath Heritage Corridor.
Naveen was accompanied by development commissioner Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and 5T secretary VK Pandian.
