Bolangir: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 1 crore for Mission Shakti Bhaban in Balangir, where he also addressed the Mission Shakti conclave on the Patharachepa grounds.
Naveen interacted with self-help groups from Subarnapur and Balangir districts and provided financial help to various women groups.
The BJD government had launched Mission Shakti in 2001. By 2019, nearly 70 lakh women had been empowered through seven lakh SHGs across Odisha, the chief minister said. He also provided Rs 3.50 crore to 14 block level women’s federations, Rs 2.88 crore to 9,607 SHGs for digital empowerment, Rs 88 lakh to anganwadi workers and assistants and Rs 20.10 crore for SHG group linkage.
The chief minister laid foundation stones of a bridge worth Rs 14 crore over the Son river and another bridge worth Rs 4.90 crore on Deogaon-Desandha Road. He also inaugurated a 50-bed maternity and child care institute at Titlagarh.
This was the chief minister’s second visit to Balangir district in the last 40 days.
