Bhubaneswar: Agharia Samaj is a prominent community in western Odisha. Members of this community, who largely depend on agriculture, are mainly settled in Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Balangir and Deogarh districts.
Members of the community had recently met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik regarding their various issues. They had requested the Chief Minister to provide them with a place near Bhubaneswar as they face accommodation problem when they visit to Bhubaneswar to attend different events.
In view of their request and the larger interests of the Agharia community, the Chief Minister has announced that half acre of land will be provided for them near Bhubaneswar.
For this, the Chief Minister has instructed the Chief Secretary to take steps towards identifying the land.
Along with this, he announced that Rs 3 crore will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Fund for the construction of Agharia Samaj Bhawan, an official release said.
