Bhubaneswar: Disappearance of important files, including one related to the killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, is not a normal incident but part of a well-planned conspiracy, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi claimed on Tuesday.
Majhi asserted that the government would take concrete steps to uncover the truth and take action against those responsible for the files disappearing from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Speaking at a book launch event in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister said report of the Justice Mahapatra and Justice AS Naidu Commission, which probed the killing of Laxmanananda Saraswati, went missing. The files were deliberately removed during the previous BJD government as part of a conspiracy to suppress the truth, Majhi alleged.
“The disappearance of the file relating to Laxmanananda Saraswati’s murder is no ordinary negligence. It was a well-planned and serious conspiracy, which our government is taking every step to expose,” the CM claimed.
Stating that the state government has initiated steps to investigate the matter, he said it has assigned the responsibility to the Crime Branch. No one involved in the alleged disappearance of the files would be spared, said Majhi.
Referring to the killing of Laxmanananda Saraswati, the Chief Minister said the previous government failed to provide adequate security to the spiritual leader and ensure punishment for those responsible. The truth behind the incident would be presented before the public and the identities of those behind the crime would be exposed, he said.
The Chief Minister also spoke about respecting all religions while warning against attempts to create divisions or disrespect Sanatan Dharma. He said his government believes in unity and harmony but would not tolerate actions aimed at hurting religious sentiments. Investigation would continue until the facts are established and justice is delivered, he said.
“I give a firm assurance to the four and a half crore people of Odisha that the truth will definitely be revealed. Our government will not spare anyone. The real faces of those who conspired and were involved in this murder will certainly be brought before the people of Odisha,” Majhi asserted.
Swamiji’s sacrifice will not go in vain and the government is fully committed to honouring the memory, ideals, and dreams of spiritual leader, the Chief Minister added.
