Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday spoke to India’s President-elect and ‘Daughter of Odisha’ Droupadi Murmu.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to attend Droupadi’s oath-taking ceremony in New Delhi on July 25. Naveen will reach New Delhi on Saturday evening on a four-day trip and return to the state on July 26.
Wishing Droupadi on behalf of the people of Odisha, Naveen said that the people of the state are very proud of her achievement.
Droupadi was elected the 15th President of India on Thursday, securing 5,77,777 votes against Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha’s 2,61,062 votes.
Ram Nath Kovind’s tenure as the 14th President ends on July 24.
The BJD had announced to support NDA candidate Droupadi in the Presidential polls.
