Odisha CM To Launch Rs 1.14 Lakh Crore Projects, Including Tata’s, In Jajpur On May 22

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will lay the foundation stone of 12 projects and inaugurate another four in Odisha’s Jajpur on May 22, Industries Minister Samapad Swain informed on Saturday.

He said that these projects worth Rs 1.14 lakh crore will help generate 34,000 employment opportunities. “These include the MoUs signed during the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave, pledging Rs 63,000 crore investments in the district,” he told reporters.

He further stated that the day will also see the ground breaking ceremony of Tata’s Rs 61,000 crore investment plan. “The government is committed to reinforcing Odisha’s position as an emerging industrial powerhouse in India. The MoUs will not remain in papers but will be implemented on the ground. Besides Tata, JSW and Vedanta are keen to invest in Odisha,” he said.

The CM performed the groundbreaking ceremony for 13 industrial projects in Khurda last month, showing the government’s commitment to establish Odisha as an industrial hub, he added.

In February, CM Majhi had announced a comprehensive industrial development strategy in his budget speech, highlighting the state’s ambitious plans to become a major manufacturing hub with special emphasis on mines and mineral-based industries to drive its economic growth.

This came close on the heels of 593 investment proposals worth Rs 16.73 lakh crore, , spanning across 20 sectors, received during the Utkarsh Oodisha— Make in Odisha Conclave.
