Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to make an important announcement at 1 pm on Tuesday through a video message, the CMO said.
The CM had earlier addressed the people of Odisha on Sunday and announced the state government’s decision to delegate powers of a district collector to the sarpanchs to aid the fight against coronavirus and ensure mandatory quarantine of the returnees at the panchayats.
He had also announced an incentive of Rs 2000 for migratory workers who would undergo the 14-day isolation period to contain the spread of the virus.
The decision assumed significance with 24 of the 79 cases reported in Odisha being linked to West Bengal. The patients had either travalled to Bengal or had come in contact with those who had returned from the neighbouring state.
