Odisha CM Urges People To Strengthen Govt’s Hands In Fight Against Corruption

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged the people to renew their resolve to fight against corruption, and strengthen the transparency and anti-corruption initiatives of the state government.

Speaking at the state-level function on the Vigilance Awareness Week, 2009, at the Rabindra Mandap here, he said that corruption frustrates the hopes and aspirations of the people by denying them the right to live with dignity as it undermines the growth, development, good governance and erodes the foundation of democracy.

To weed out corruption, the state government has adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ approach so that the basic public services are made available to the people at the grassroots in a fair and transparent manner, and the benefits of welfare and developmental schemes reach the needy, he said.

“With proactive steps like Mo Sarkar, we are also trying to empower people, who are our ultimate masters in a democracy for claiming their rightful entitlements,” he added.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government has undertaken the 5T initiatives to achieve transformational goals in governance and ensure better delivery of public goods and services to the people.

Congratulating the Odisha Vigilance for its good work, he said the state government has taken a number of steps to strengthen the State Vigilance so that they can discharge their mandate more professionally and serve the people in a better way.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister gave away cash prizes certificates and trophies to the Vigilance officials and winners of different competitions.
