Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday urged the vice-chancellors of state universities to make a continuous endeavour to elevate their institutions to higher levels of academic excellence.
Presiding over a meeting of vice-chancellors here, the Chief Minister suggested that they focus on the following aspects.
—Transparency in the recruitment of teachers.
—Encouraging teachers for research and publication.
—Maitaining discipline at any cost. Not tolerating interference of outsiders. Keeping the university campus free from non-students and unauthorised persons.
—Holding university examinations and publishing results in time. No delay shall from the next academic year.
—Ensuring quality education in the affiliated colleges.
— Surprise visits by vice-chancellors, senior officers and faculty members to affiliated colleges from time to time.
Besides, the Chief Minister also asked them to make efforts to achieve higher National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rating and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking in the coming cycle of assessment and ranking and spend more time inside the university campus interacting with the students.
He assured that there will be no funds constraints and the state government will support the universities in all possible ways.
