Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made a surprise visit to the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday and inspected the infrastructure in the complex.
The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Suryavanshi Suraj, went around the stadium and examined the construction work of the sports complex.
According to sources, the CM’s visit came following allegation of poor quality of work in the construction of the sports complex at the premier stadium.
While allegation of irregularities in the construction surfaced, there were also reports that a portion of ceiling in the sports complex had collapsed recently.
Speaking to reporters, Sports Minister Suraj said that an investigation is being conducted into the whole issue to ascertain as to who were responsible for poor quality of work.
Appropriate action will be taken against those involved in the shoddy construction work, he said.
The Chief Minster also met students staying in sports hostel and enquired about their problems.
