Odisha CM Writes To PM For Over 7 Lakh PMAY Houses To Fani-Hit Families

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY) to the families who were rendered homeless due to the cyclone Fani in Odisha.

In his letter to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister on Wednesday said the state government has identified around 7.87 lakh houses that were damaged by the cyclone in May 2019. Those houses have also been geo-tagged and Aadhaar seeded, he added.

Stating that the affected people may be included in the permanent wait list of PMAY(G) and considered for sanction of PMAY(G) special houses, Naveen said it will not only provide relief to them but also ensure safe housing to rural families in the cyclone prone areas.

He also requested that the Union Rural Development Ministry may be advised to open window of Aawaas+ Mobile App to geo-tag these houses to ensure the objective of “Safe housing for all”.
