Bhubaneswar: The intense cold wave sweeping across Odisha for the past one week, is most likely to recede in the next 72 hours, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said on Saturday.

According to Meteorologist Surendranath Pasupalak, the formation of a high-pressure area over the state will obstruct the cold wind blowing from the northern Himalayan region. This will result in a gradual rise in the night temperature, he added.

Meanwhile, the night temperature fell below 10°C in Daringbadi (6), Koraput (8.2), Jharsuguda (8.5), Sundargarh (8.5), Bhawanipatna (9) and Keonjhar (9.8).

Besides, the mercury remained at 15°C and below at 16 places in Balasore (13.1), Chandbali (13), Paradip (15), Baripada (10), Sambalpur (11.2), Hirakud (12.1), Talcher (12), Balangir (10.6), Titlagarh (11.5), Malkangiri (12), Sonepur (11), Nayagarh (13.2), Boudh (10) and Chhatrapur (14.3).
