Malkangiri: Taking a break from his regular duties, Malkangiri Collector Manish Agarwal took to teaching children at a school in the district’s cut-off areas.
Agarwal donned the teacher’s role during a surprise visit to Salim Gaon Upper Primary School on Thursday. The visit was part of the collector’s initiative to gauge the standard of education in schools in Maoist-prone areas.
At the school, Agarwal first held a discussion with the students and then taught them Mathematics for some time.
“No doubt, the teachers are taking classes. But the basic idea behind this initiative is that officials can also supplement in building career of students,” he said.
Later, the collector also visited other schools and anganwadi kendras to inspect the quality of food provided under the mid-day meal (MDM).
He also held a discussion with teachers about issues concerning the schools so that necessary steps could be taken for improving the education system.
A few days ago, Nilagiri MLA Sukant Nayak had taught mathematics to students during a surprise visit to Tenda Ashram School in Balasore. In a video that has gone viral, the MLA was seen sharing methods to solve a problem related to right-angled triangle.
