Bhubaneswar: Amid the spectacular response to ‘DAMaN’, the Odisha government has asked collectors to arrange for special screenings of the movie at nearby theatres either at the district or sub-divisional level.

The film is based on the government’s Malaria prevention programme in the tribal-based Malkangiri district. “The decision for special screenings aims to motivate government officials to augment healthcare services in inaccessible areas,” an official release said.

Since the movie carries a positive message about the efforts and contribution of the government and public in implementing health schemes in hard-to-reach areas, the government is facilitating its screening for those belonging to the Health and Family Welfare (H &FW) and other senior-level district officers, it added.

It further said that there will be one show per sub-division and the cost of the special screening will be borne by the department.

Notably, the government had earlier declared ‘DAMaN’ as tax-free keeping in view its social impact. A special screening of the movie was also organised at Lokseva Bhavan convention centre by Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department organised a screening of DAMaN film on Sunday with the support of Odisha Film Development Corporation, for officers of the Odisha government at 5 pm on Sunday.
