Jagatsinghpur: Principal of a degree college in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district has been arrested for alleged misconduct and misbehaviour towards female staff members.
The accused has been identified as Dayanidhi Routray, principal of Swami Arupananda Degree College at Kurtang
According to sources, allegations were levelled against Routray for inappropriate behavior and harassment towards a female clerk and a woman lecturer working at the educational institution. They raised the issue with Jagatsinghpur Sub-Collector seeking stern action against the accused principal. Following a formal complaint on July 11, Raghunathpur police intercepted and arrested the principal. He was subsequently produced before a local court.
Police sources revealed that this is not the first time Routray has found himself on the wrong side of the law. He already has at least six different cases registered against him across various police stations in connection with previous incidents.
Taking stringent note of the criminal charges and the arrest, Jagatsinghpur district administration has officially suspended Routray from his position at the college pending further investigation.
