Bhubaneswar: Two persons have been detained in connection with the egg attack on Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi at Balipatna Chhak here on Thursday.
Police took them into custody following a complaint lodged by MP’s representative Dhaneswar Barik.
Protesting against the hike in prices of fuel and essential commodities, the Pradesh Chhatra Congress activists hurled eggs and waved black flags at the vehicle of the MP while she was on her way to Balipatna, sources said.
They were also protesting rising unemployment under the BJP rule at the Centre.
The complainant, however, alleged that the attackers also hurled stones at the vehicle and were carrying knives and other weapons.
He identified the attackers as Rajkishore Sahoo, Manoranjan Sahoo, Rajendra Routray, Arijit Pradhan, Chiku Mundahana and Babulu.
