Bhubaneswar: Members of the students’ wing of Odisha Congress scuffled with police while attempting to gherao Naveen Nivas, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence, in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Alleging shoddy probe into the death of Zilla Parishad member Dharmendra Sahoo, the protesters had planned to gherao the Chief Minister’s resident to demand resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash over the issue.
The agitators pelted eggs and tomatoes on police when the cops tried to prevent them from breaking the barricades on the way to Naveen Nivas. Several Chhatra Congress activists were detained by police.
The Congress is staging an agitation demanding proper investigation into the death of the Nimapara Zilla Parishad Member Dharmendra Sahoo and removal of Samir Dash from the Minister accusing him of being involved in the case.
