Odisha Congress Dismisses ‘Cash-For-Ticket’ Claims Ahead Of Elections As False

Bhubaneswar: With the Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly elections fast approaching, reports about money being sought from Congress ticket aspirants have surfaced in the state. The state Congress leadership has swung into action to prevent unscrupulous elements from indulging in any such activities.

The party has issued letters to the presidents and leaders of all district Congress committees and other party wings, and made it clear that the names of candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly seats for the coming polls will be announced at the right time by AICC.

It has been stated that party leaders having the potential to win the election will be announced as candidates by AICC, sources said.

The party has come across claims that some unscrupulous people are allegedly seeking money from Congress ticket aspirants by promising to make them party candidates.

Making it clear that such assurances are false, OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak urged the party workers and the aspiring candidates not to be influenced by these false promises.

Speaking in same vein, senior Congress leader Panchanan Kanungo also advised the aspiring candidates not to be misled by elements making false assurances. Those getting influenced by false promises and giving money to get a Congress ticket are bound to be duped, he said.
