Bhubaneswar: The resignation spree in the Odisha Congress continues with the vice-president of the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress Jayashree Patnaik quitting the party.
In a letter to the Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik and the office of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Patnaik has informed about her resignation from the post of the vice-president of the Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress and the primary membership of the party. Rahul is scheduled to visit Odisha next week.
Jayashree has alleged that the state party leadership has been ignoring her and her family despite working for the party in Begunia and Bolagarh constituencies since last 30 years.
“I have decided to quit the Congress as I am fed up with the family politics,” Jayashree said.
There have been no reactions by any senior party leader on this matter.
Her resignation comes close on the heels of Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishore Das quitting the party on Wednesday. He has announced to fight the coming state assembly elections as a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate.
