Bhubaneswar: Congress leader and former Chief Secretary B K Patnaik on Wednesday filed a complaint with Bhubaneswar Cyber Police about a fake Facebook account been created in his name to sell furniture purportedly belonging to an officer on transfer.
Patnaik in his complaint has sought immediate action against the miscreants trying to deceive people. He said if the miscreants are not apprehended early, buyers may assume that he is endorsing the sale of furniture when no such advertisement has been published by him. He does not know the person selling furniture.
Enclosing a screenshot of the Facebook account and also the hyperlink to it, Patnaik alleged that it was a criminal act and that the account should be banned to save buyers from fraudulent transactions.
Patnaik also shared a copy of the police complaint on his Facebook account and wrote that tortured by cyber criminals, he had to seek police support. He also urged his followers to stay away from fake things on internet, including his fake social media account.
