Nuapada: Ahead of announcement of party manifesto for General Elections, Odisha unit of Congress released a “list of guarantee” on Saturday.
Speaking on Congress guarantee at a press conference in Nuapada, president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Sarat Patnaik and Kantabanji MLA Santosh Singh Saluja said it aimed at ensuring the party’s “9 to 90 mission” in the elections.
“Besides winning 90 seats in the state Assembly, the document has 8 other guarantees for the people of Odisha. The Congress wants to assure the people of fulfilling what BJD in the state and BJP at the Centre could not achieve in the last decade,” Patnaik said.
The Congress guarantees include waiver of farmers’ loan, increasing MSP of paddy to Rs 3,000 per quintal, monthly pension of Rs 2,000 to farmers, free electricity upto 200 watts for each household consumer.
Besides, the party has promised employment for 3.5 lakh youths every year, monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000, loan waiver for women SHGs, an LPG at Rs 500 to each family every month, free treatment upto Rs 25 lakh for each family, increasing old age, widow and Divyang pension to Rs 2,000 and others.
The party’s state vice-president Sibanand Ray released the Congress guarantee in Puri and district president Binod Patra in Sonepur on the day.
