Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) is planning a ‘mishran parba’ (joining ceremony) on September 5 here to induct several prominent personalities, including former chief minister Giridhar Gamang, former MPs Hema Gamang, Jayaram Pangi and former national Indian hockey captain Prabodh Tirkey.
The joining ceremony will be held in presence of national leaders and a rally is also being planned on this occasion, OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak told the media.
The former hockey star, Tirkey, has expressed keenness to contest from Talsara Assembly constituency to serve the people of the area, reports said.
Over six months after they joined Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Hyderabad, veteran tribal leader Giridhar Gamang, along with his family members, was slated to return to Congress by the end of this month. His son Sishir had Odisha in charge of Congress A Chellakumar in New Delhi recently.
Confirming AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit Odisha in September, Pattanayak said that the dates will be fixed soon.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. are likely to visit the state in October.
