Phulbani: Conjoined twins survivor Jaga of Odisha’s Kandhamal district recently welcomed his baby sister.
According to sources, Jaga’s parents, Bhuyan Kanhar and Pushpanjali were blessed with a baby girl on August 7. They have named her Subhadra.
“Jaga is very happy after getting a sister. He stays close to her and tries to play with her. He was badly missing Kalia. We all feel his absence in our life,” said his mother Pushpanjali.
One of the separated conjoined twins, Kalia, died in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on November 25, 2020
The twins, Jaga and Kalia, were joined at the head since birth. Following the state government’s intervention and funding, they underwent a complicated surgery of 21 hours in AIIMS-New Delhi in October 2017. They stayed in the premier medical institute for two years to enable the doctors to keep an eye on the progress of their health condition before coming back to Odisha in 2019.
