Odisha Continues To Sizzle As 22 Places Record 40 Degree Celsius Or Above

Bhubaneswar: With sweltering heat wave continuing to sweep Odisha, at least 22 places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or above on Wednesday.

According to the evening bulletin of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the day temperature soared past 42 degre Celsius in at least 15 places in the state.

Both Sonepur and Angul turned out to be the hottest places in the state with day temperature of 44.1 degree Celsius.

They were followed by Boudh with 44 degree Celsius, Titlagarh  43.5, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda 43.4, Bhawanipatna 43, Hirakud 42.9, Malkangiri 42.6, Balangir 42.5, Talcher 42.4, Rourkela 42.2 and Nuapada, Sundargarh and Bargarh 42 degree Celsius.

The state capital of Bhubaneswar as well as the millennium city of Cuttack recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degree Celsius

The MeT office said that there will be no large change in the day temperature during the next 5 days and the mercury may soar to 42°C or more at a few places in interior Odisha – Nuapada, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Kalahandi.

Sultry weather condition would continue in interior Odisha with thunderstorms activity over coastal and adjoining districts, it added.
