Puri: Satyabadi Police on Thursday arrested Gangadhar Rout, a constable of Nimapara Police Station in Odisha’s Puri district, on charges of raping a woman last year.
The victim, in her complaint, had alleged that Rout raped her on the plea of helping her in a case.
Following investigation, Rout was arrested by the order of Puri SP Uma Shankar Das.
The accused will be forwarded to the court later in the day, police said.
