Angul: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Angul police station, Arakshita Sethy, has been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty and concealing important information from court.
The bail to one Satyajit Pradhan alias Bapi (33) despite being booked under Section 25(113)(a) of Arms Act had turned the needle of suspicion on the ASI, who was the investigating officer in the case. During a raid on his residence at Lingarajodi here, police had recovered three revolvers and nine live bullets.
Suspecting foul play, DIG (North Central Range) Narasingha Bhol and Angul SP Jagmohan Meena conducted an internal inquiry and found that Sethy had concealed information which helped Bapi to get bail quickly. “Further inquiry into the matter is on,” informed Meena.
During the period of suspension, his headquarters is fixed at RO Angul and he will remain under disciplinary control of RI, Angul, he added.
