Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday apprehended sub-inspector (SI) of Khandapada police station in Nayagarh district while allegedly accepting Rs 3,000 bribe.
The bribe money was part of monthly instalment which the accused SI, Sheikh Habibul Rehman, had allegedly demanded from the complainant to allow him conduct business, a Vigilance release said.
The SI had been harassing the complainant despite having pocketed Rs 15,000 bribe earlier, it further stated.
A case has been registered against Rehman under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway.
