Bhubaneswar: Following his arrest for allegedly possessing unaccounted cash, Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma on Tuesday suspended Amit Kumar Biswal, inspector-in-charge of Bhandaripokhari police station in Bhadrak district.
On December 11, vigilance sleuths had intercepted Biswal near Shergad toll gate when he was travelling from Bhandaripokhari to Baripada and recovered Rs 73,500 from him. He failed to give any valid reason for carrying such a big amount, following which he was arrested. He has been in judicial custody since then.
Biswal has been placed under suspension with effect from December 11. During this period, he will remain under the disciplinary control of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) (Eastern Range), Balasore.
