Boudh: A constable of the Reserve Police in Boudh district was placed under suspension on Thursday for allegedly thrashing a youth in public.
According to sources, three youths of Athamallik in Angul district were allegedly passing comments at the girl student of the Central School in Boudh on Wednesday.
Following information, two constables in uniform and one in a plain cloth arrived at the spot in a PCR van. Later, the plain-clothed constable of the Reserve Police, Ranjan Mahapatra, called out to one of the youths and thrashed him with a plastic pipe in full public glare.
The three were later taken to the Boudh police station for interrogation.
As the video of the incident later went viral on social media, SP (Boudh) Y Raghunath Rao suspended Mahapatra.
