Bhubaneswar: Coronavirus cases in Odisha has touched 245 with 24 more testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 19 patients are from Ganjam, five from Kendrapada and two from Bhadrak.
Ganjam saw a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases with 43 more people of the district having found to be virus-afflicted since Wednesday, taking the total to 47.

On May 2, Ganjam reported its maiden case when two Surat-returned youth tested positive for the virus. The following day, another Surat returnee was found to have contracted the infection. One more case was detected in Ganjam on Tuesday (May 5) and this 18-year-old youth had also returned from Surat recently. On Wednesday (May 6), 17 more Surat returnees tested positive for the virus. The number rose to 28 on Thursay (May 7) evening with seven more migrants being detected with the virus while 19 more were found positive later that night.

Kendrapada now has six active cases with two having recovered from the disease. “The five new cases belong to Sanjaia village in Pattamundai block. They are being shifted to Ashwinin COVID hospital in Cuttack,” the sub-collector informed.
According to the Bhadrak administration, one each from Dhamnagar block and Basudevpur municipality have tested positive in the district. Both had recently returned from Gujarat and were in institutional quarantine after arriving in Bhadrak, the tweet added.
With these two new cases, Bhadrak’s total has gone up to 23. As many as 12 patients in the district have been fully cured.
With two deaths and 62 recoveries, Odisha now has 181 active cases.
