Nabarangpur: A couple died while their nine-year-old son had a lucky escape after a truck hit their motorcycle near Rabanaguda Chhak under Kundei police limits in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Monday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ajit Majumdar and Deepika Majumdar of Parichipara village in the district.
According to sources, the accident took place while they returning home after offering water, fetched from Sihawa in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, at a Shiva temple near Hatabharandi here. The duo died on spot after being hit by the truck coming from the opposite direction.
Irate locals staged a protest following the accident. Police, however, soon reached the spot and pacified them. The bodies have also been seized for postmortem and further investigation is underway.
