Cuttack: A Special Vigilance Court in Cuttack on Monday sentenced a retired executive engineer to rigorous imprisonment for two years in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Odisha Vigilance has filed the chargesheet in the court against Narahari Panda, retired executive engineer, Brahmani, Subarnarekha, Baitarani Basin, Laxmiposi, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district for possession of disproportionate assets.
The Special Judge, Special Court, Cuttack convicted Panda in the case and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 under section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988. In default of payment of fine, he has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months, the court ruled.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Panda following his conviction.
