Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 218 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, taking the total tally in the state to 6,180, the I and PR Department informed.
The new cases were reported from 21 districts. Of these, 198 were detected in quarantine centres and 20 were local contacts. Among the new cases, seven were NDRF personnel who had returned from post-Amphan duty in neighbouring West Bengal.
At present, 4,291 people have recovered in Odisha, while the number of active cases is 1865. On the other hand, 17 patients have succumbed to coronavirus in the state so far.
In addition, seven other patients have died of other diseases.
According to the I and PR Department, Gajapati district crossed the 400 mark with 27 new cases. So far, 121 coronavirus patients have recovered in the district.
