Bhubaneswar: The COVID toll in Odisha surpassed the 8000-mark and touched 8022 on Wednesday with 53 more deaths due to the deadly disease being confirmed after an audit in the last 24 hours.
An eight-year-girl from Jharsuguda is among the deceased. The death of a two-month-old baby girl was reported the previous day.
With this, the number of children and adolescents who lost their lives to COVID during the second wave in the state has touched 38. Thirteen children in the age group of 0-18 years have died due to the deadly disease between August 10 and 31.
Among the new fatalities, the highest of 19 is from Khurda.
